This formula provides 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP, from Griffonia simplicifolia seed extract) as a direct precursor to serotonin that bypasses the rate-limiting step of L-tryptophan hydroxylase, alongside L-tryptophan as an upstream precursor for sustained production, pyridoxal-5-phosphate (active B6) as the cofactor for aromatic amino acid decarboxylase converting 5-HTP to serotonin, methylfolate for SAMe-mediated serotonin methylation and metabolism, and zinc for aromatic amino acid decarboxylase enzyme activity.*
