This formula provides serrapeptase (serratiopeptidase), a metalloproteinase enzyme produced by Serratia marcescens bacteria (originally isolated from the intestine of silkworms), standardized to 80,000 SPU (serrapeptase units) and enteric-coated for delivery to the small intestine where it is absorbed systemically to provide proteolytic breakdown of fibrin, bradykinin, and other inflammatory proteins in tissues throughout the body.*
