This formula provides Calcium D-Glucarate, the patented calcium salt of D-glucaric acid, a natural substance found in cruciferous vegetables, which is metabolized in the intestine to D-glucaro-1,4-lactone, a potent inhibitor of beta-glucuronidase enzyme activity. Beta-glucuronidase, produced by intestinal bacteria, cleaves the glucuronide bond that conjugates (marks for excretion) estrogens, xenoestrogens, steroid hormones, and lipophilic toxins, when inhibited, these molecules remain conjugated and are excreted rather than reabsorbed into circulation.*
